Narrative of my film

  1. Whats the plot? Whats the story? (themes, feelings of character)
  2. What narrative structure will you use?
  3. Will you withhold aspects of the story from the audience? Or show them everything?
  4. What else will help the story? - signifiers? music? editing?


  1. A family of two twins and a mother go to the park for the day. The mother sits on the bench at one side of the park distracted by her newspaper and dog walkers around her whilst the twins play on the climbing frames and swings. One of the twins befriends a girl ( a ghost) who she has alot of fun with at the park. Meanwhile the other twin is suspicous and wary of her sister because she is unable to see this girl ( a ghost). In the end, the twin goes missing with this girl and the other twin later finds a poster of this girl who has been missing for 10 years.
  2. Our narrative structure is linear because it follows a story and doesn't come away from that.
  3. One part of the film we are withholding from the audience is the girl ghost and whether she is real or not and why the other twin is unable to see her. This is only shown to the audience when the poster is found at the end, this is when the film will come to an end and everything is revealed.
  4. We are going to include eery music and sound effects and the editing will show shots of the girl playing with a girl only she can see but is invisible to the audience and other characters and cutting to the mum oblivious to what is happening.

Evaluation - what have you learned from your audience feedback?

As our film was aimed at a younger generation, we decided to have an audience watch our final product that fit into this category because this would help us to know if the film we had created was successful in what we wanted to achieve overall. I asked a group of three friends between the ages of 16 - 18 to watch a give us some feedback on what they thought about it. They were able to give us positive comments and also some constructive criticism which enabled us to reflect back on our work and make some improvements according to what our audience thought. slasher

The  slasher film  (sometimes referred to as bodycount  films  and dead teenager movies) is a sub- genre  of horror  film  typically involving a psychopathic killer (sometimes wearing a mask) who stalks and graphically murders a series of adolescent victims in a typically random , unprovoked fashion.  Psycho is a seminal slasher because throughout the film there is frequent violent murders with use of knives and dangerous weapons. It set a new level of acceptability for violence, deviant behaviour and sexuality in American films. It was also an early example of a slasher film genre.

Tim Burton

Tim Burton Timothy Walter Burton (born August 25, 1958) is an American film director, producer, artist, writer, and animator. He is well known for producing dark, eccentric and quirky fantasy films such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and A nightmare before christmas. As a preteen, Burton would make short films in his backyard on Evergreen Street using crude stop motion animation techniques or shoot them on 8 mm film without sound. One of Tim Burtons most famous works, Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet street, blends explicit gore and Broadway tunes to create a bizarre and anomalous film which reflects his style when producing and directing. As well as his creations having a peculiar style he tries to show this through his characters. For example the mad hatter in Alice in Wonderland. The role is made for someone that can portray him as insane and fanatical.
